What it means to be a supervisor

Each Conservation District is led by a five-member Board of Supervisors who serve five-year terms. These supervisors are the heart of our organization — their leadership and guidance shape the direction of conservation work across Grand Isle County.

As a Supervisor, you won’t be bogged down with day-to-day operations. Instead, you’ll help set the vision: providing leadership to the District Manager, guiding strategic priorities, and ensuring our work aligns with the community’s needs and long-term conservation goals.

We’re looking for people who bring local knowledge, strong community connections, and a passion for land and water stewardship. Maybe you’ve worked the land yourself, implemented conservation practices, managed a business, or built networks that connect people and resources. Whatever your background, your perspective can help strengthen the District.

Serving on the board is an opportunity to:

  • Influence how natural resources are cared for in our community

  • Share your expertise and learn from others with diverse experiences

  • Be part of a team that’s making a lasting impact on our working landscapes and waterways.
